- Really great direct manager in the Vehicle Licensing department of the County Clerk's Office. I really liked working with her, she was probably the best manager I have ever had. - Senior leadership cares about your wellbeing. - The Clerk and Recorder, Tina Harris, is a good boss. She gives out free "admin" days off for holidays sometimes or for your birthday. And she has a cute little corgi, which they call the "clerk and recorgi". - Friendly and helpful coworkers. They were a joy to work with. We laughed pretty often, too. - Larimer County is one of the best, most knowledgeable, most organized counties in Colorado to work for if you're looking to get into DMV-style work. I loved that type of detail-oriented work. It's slightly different every day, so it remains challenging and engaging and doesn't get old, at least in my experience. - They train the heck out of you. You get several weeks of classroom training before even setting foot out on the floor, and then you get ongoing training to help freshen up on old info or learn new info. The trainers are really awesome and helpful. There's definitely a growth mindset here and focus on learning. I enjoyed that and appreciated how much they invested in me. - Good benefits. You accrue time off at a pretty quick rate, and we used to also get comp time for working overtime, although they are avoiding overtime now for budgetary reasons. - Pay is pretty good for the area and you get two raises per year. Definitely a living wage, although things are getting more expensive in Fort Collins than they used to be, so I hope they will continue to keep up with inflation. - You get to switch back and forth between the front counter and the call center, so you're not doing the same thing for too long and it changes it up. - Fort Collins office is right downtown, next to a big parking garage and there's also a ton of restaurants and shops nearby so there's plenty to do on your lunch break. - One hour lunch and two 15 minute breaks, even though I believe the legal requirement is only 10 minute breaks. - Interesting work that is important in people's lives. And many customers are kind and grateful for your help and guidance. - They try to make things as fair and equal as possible between coworkers at the Vehicle Licensing department. I never felt that there was any sort of favoritism or nepotism happening. - There are opportunities to advance your career.

- Attendance and tardiness policy is strict in the Vehicle Licensing department, if you are 30 seconds late that is considered late and you may be talked to about it. - Some of the managers are not as well trained in people management and communication skills as my direct manager was. - We used to get 15 minutes of overtime every day which actually added up substantially, but they got rid of that. - If you want to park your car in the parking lot or on the streets directly outside of the building, you have to move it every two hours or you'll get a parking ticket. - Like in any job working with the public, sometimes you get customers who are rude, demanding, yell, etc. But I've had other jobs where the type of people you deal with are way worse. - Sometimes policies come down from above that don't really make sense. - It's mostly white people, but that's kind of Fort Collins for you. Not very diverse, but always felt inclusive.

You will always be at 2.5% increase never keeping up with inflation no matter how much you excel and go beyond. You are rewarded with pizzas in the break room. No promotional ladder to climb. Expect to be static always.
