Lessen has the standard "fast moving, fun and unique" startup culture down pat. Employees here are motivated, passionate about what they do and excited to help build something great! There are plenty of snacks, drinks, employee lunches, team building events and get togethers. The leaders are knowledgeable and focused on transparency and collaborative innovation. There is a focus on employee wellness and satisfaction.

As with any new company, there are growing pains. Things move quickly and change frequently at Lessen. If you’re not someone that can wear multiple hats, re-prioritize at the drop of a dime and needs a set plan to go from A-Z without interruption, Lessen may not be for you. In my first few months, I had 3 different leadership changes. The change was always for the better, but flexibility and adaptability are a must here. Sometimes it can feel like we put the cart before the horse without proper planning or buy in from all necessary parties. But I have also seen more and more thought around this, we are learning, and new policies and procedures are being published regularly. Like any start up, “basic foundations” are still being built. There is currently little to no employee training and benefits are a little hit or miss. We only have 2 weeks of PTO and a handful of major holidays off, but medical, dental and vision plans are good. We do have a 401k with 1% matching but there’s a long vesting period. I hear improvements are coming soon and I’m excited to see what’s in store. Bottom line, our leader’s heads and hearts are in the right spot. They’re focused on taking care of the employees, they listen to employee feedback, learn from past mistakes and are slowly but surely improving efficiencies.
