Want to get yelled at for not being a "yes man?" Want to have someone scream at you for refusing to wear a uniform? Want to be told you should be thankful you even have a job after voicing safety concerns? THEN COME WORK FOR THE CENTER FOR LEARNING LITERACY AND ENGAGEMENT AT THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS! We used to have great moral in the division, a positive work atmosphere, a culture of collaboration and a sense of pride for the work we did, however, that all changed after she was brought on a few years ago. Allegedly, her old office held a party after she left. She single handedly dismantled programs, forced entire offices quit through bullying, and created an environment of fear. She appointed and hired underqualified people to positions out of favoritism, inserted herself in projects not overseen by our division and picked on staff who didn't say "yes" to everything she did. If you are liked by your colleagues this will make you a direct target for her bullying. She only wants people to like her. At one point she got so desperate (after staff quit working for her, requested transfers and retired) that she (allegedly) started to LIE to people in order to entice them to apply for positions. When they didn't she would (allegedly) yell at them, withhold promotions (allegedly) or transfer them (allegedly) out of spite. Absolutely unhinged! She has had (allegedly) multiple complaints filed against her to HR, EEO, and her supervisors. She has retaliated towards staff by withholding grade promotions, canceling major initiatives and demoting people. I have never met anyone that is as universally disliked by people as her. Directors, chiefs, and staff all avoid her like the plague because of how terrible she is to everyone. She is so insecure in her abilities that she does not thank staff or even recognize them in any forum. If you (someone on her staff) get special recognition by someone on the Library’s Executive committee she will not allow you to work any major event or program ever again. She did this to multiple people because she does not want to be outshined. We have had multiple people quit just this week. This has been normal for her tenure as people want to escape by any means necessary. ALLEGEDLY - ALL THIS STUFF IS ALLEGEDLY, MAYBE AND SUPPOSEDLY!
