Vantaggi

They do have a solid individual health care benefit.

Svantaggi

My experience with Lifestyle Medical Center was very limited, exceptionally poor, and needs to be shared. I accepted a full time position despite not being offered my desired salary, no concessions for further PTO, and an employee contract that made me feel uneasy, but I was excited to further my career into outpatient counseling – a career goal of mine since college. I was asked to wait 6 weeks to start employment, which I agreed to when I accepted the position. Approximately 2 weeks prior to my start date, I was emailed asking if I would be willing to push back my start date further for their business needs, but I declined. Also, when I accepted the position, I was to work full time at one single clinic, but that was quickly changed to a different location for half the week and then at an outside clinic for the rest of the week upon the first few days I was there. I questioned if this would potentially affect earning potential through their bonus structure. To my surprise and utter disbelief, at the end of the first week of training, I was let go. The reasons that were given to me for not continuing employment did not add up and included that I was not cut out for outpatient counseling, although my counseling skills and abilities were not evaluated as I only observed others during this first week. I also was told that I made a bad impression on the CEO during a surprise and very brief interaction, which also played into my termination. I want my experience to be known so that others can make a better informed decision about working for LMC, especially because it seems that their ideal employee is a new grad who will not ask questions and that they can pay less.

Vantaggi

Supporting patients while they lose weight is very rewarding

Svantaggi

The job is advertised as paying $30-$40/hr (the normal rate for most RD jobs in the area), but the pay is based on billable time. No matter what you're told about how "busy" they are, you'll never have a full schedule, so you'll end up with lots of unpaid time between appointments - dragging your actual pay down to an unreasonably low rate. Top that off with not having a cancellation/rescheduling/no-show policy. Each day appx 30% of your booked appointments don't happen (you're there, but not being paid). Try bringing any of this up and you'll be told you're being "negative" while the character assassination campaign against you begins. Turnover is very high - even 3 different medical directors in the past few years. Patients constantly complain that the office doesn't answer the phone! Weekly meetings are required, but you aren't paid for that time either. You only fit in if you're willing to pretend this is all normal and acceptable. The actual patient care is infused with the magical thinking of clinicians who think they know more about nutrition than they actually do. Patients suffer with wading through conflicting advice and having meds pushed on them the minute they walk through the door.
