Vantaggi

THE KIDS Basically the main/only saving grace. You can fall real quick for the kiddos. They are fun and hilarious, hardworking even when they are little rascals or test your patience. It is very rewarding to see the progress in the students and see tangible results for the work. My personal center is also pretty good. I enjoy most of my co workers and feel like we really try to embody all of the great things about LBLP even though corporate doesn't foster the motivation necessary to do so. Additionally, if you are a college student or recent grad looking for a gig to get you some money, then try this out. It can be really fun and for a temporary job the pay is decent-ish. Summer is the busy season so try it out. But don't expect to be here long term because you will end up doing full time work for part time benefits and there seems to be little room for career advancement.

Svantaggi

Oh boy, where to start... Well the main point of this review is that corporate sucks, and truly they do. Recently the company cut the pay and salary of all employees, a thing that sometimes happens in places of work. But how they did it was ATROCIOUS. They sent out an email on a Thursday past 5pm on a 3 day holiday weekend announcing the pay cut, a pay cut that was to start IMMEDIATELY on Monday. So we come into work on Monday and find out that day that our pay it getting cut. WHAT!??! How on Earth do they think it is good practice or common decency to give your employees virtually NO NOTICE of such an action. Our bosses tried their best to tell us nicely, as it affected them as well and they didn't know either. I CANNOT believe corporate would do that to their employees. They should have given AT LEAST a full pay period of notice. But no. So in addition to there being no incentives for the holidays, no bonuses or raises, we get a nice HAPPY HOLIDAYS HERES A PAYCUT HOHOHO. It's ridiculous. I'm no finance or business person but its hard for me to believe that they only way they could solve their financial problems is by cutting employee pay. The very people on the ground who make the magic happen. 2. It's a program that I believe works and I get that it's a business but it's just very inaccessible because of the cost to parents and students. It is extremely expensive to have intensive instruction here like $130 an hour or somewhere around there. And I WOUND NOT propose an increase in rate on parents to solve the financial issue but my dream is that one day LBLP can reach out to kids who don't come from wealthy families or have had to fight many years through the school district to get them to cover the cost. 3. SCHEDULING....it's a mess. You get your schedule on Friday for the next week. You have to put in at least two weeks ahead for any requested time off. Sometimes you don't even hear back if you get that time off or not. You have to go ask and maybe you'll hear the "Oh we have students on the grid for you" and then you gotta say "oh well maybe you should have seen my request and NOT PUT STUDENTS ON THE GRID FOR ME". And for a part time worker you're expected to be more flexible than Elasta-girl. Your schedule can change on the hour, which is fine if you're at work. What's not fine is when hours are added without asking (maybe I planned a doctor appointment during this Wednesday afternoon I thought I would have free). Nope you are a part time employee expected to give them all the hours of your day. PART TIME EMPLOYEE AND PART TIME BENEFITS. Maybe if there were more incentives then I could be a little more flexible. 4. BURNOUT - this job is exhausting and you are worked for every ounce. It is only worth it for the kids but I AM BURNT OUT. My sessions are not as good as they could be and I just feel like my longevity as an employee is not fostered. 5. I don't know really how to address this but a feeling I get around this company is FAKENESS. I don't know exactly what it is but the culture around here seems so fake. Like FAKE happy, FAKE everything is great, FAKE awesomeness.....I don't know how else to put it but its a vibe and everything just seems fake on the surface (corporate wise). 6. Wacky Wednesday themes....see below

It’s great to try to help people, but…

Svantaggi

They’re so set on their particular philosophical style, but realistically, it cannot be one size fits all. Clinicians who work there are NOT experts; they only get two weeks of training. And the sessions are extremely tight, with back-to-back students (just five minutes between each, leaving no time to prepare for the next one and no chance for clinicians to catch a breath). Lessons take place in cramped, mostly shared spaces, so everyone tends to be over-stressed. There’s no way that what is taught there, and the environment in which it’s taught, is worth what they’re charging families. Not to mention that the staff break room is like the size of a closet, and even in that tight space, many people just aren’t very friendly and hardly acknowledge your presence.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Lindamood-Bell. We appreciate that our mission of helping students reach their learning potential resonated with you. At the same time, we are disappointed to read your comments regarding training, scheduling, and your experience with our instructional model. Our initial training is designed to prepare clinicians to begin working one-to-one with students using our unique approach. That training continues through ongoing mentoring and instructional guidance from experienced staff members who oversee lesson planning, monitor student progress, and support instructional quality. This team-based model is central to our instructional approach and to supporting student outcomes. We regret that the purpose and value of this model were not evident during your employment. We also recognize that learning center work can be demanding, particularly during busy periods, and we appreciate your perspective regarding scheduling and the work environment. Feedback such as yours is valuable as we continue working to improve communication and the overall staff experience. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
