Vantaggi
I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside an incredibly passionate and talented staff at Literacy Partners. Leadership is visible at every level of the organization, and there are real opportunities to learn from everyone. The team’s expertise is recognized nationally, and students are truly centered in the work—with deep respect for their home cultures. Programs consistently outperform peers in adult literacy and family engagement. The organization offers progressive employee benefits, including a 32-hour work week, and is guided by a thoughtful strategic plan (2025–2029).
Svantaggi
Like most organizations in this field, funding can be challenging, though leadership has been creative in securing opportunities that directly benefit students. The pace of change and innovation may feel fast for some, and as a smaller nonprofit, resources can be stretched. Salaries are fair and improving, but like most NYC nonprofits, there’s still room for growth to match the rise in cost of living especially once there is a hybrid return to work. Work-life balance is improving at LP under new leadership; however, there’s still room to strengthen sustainability as the organization continues to scale.
