There are opportunities for growth for early career employees which is wonderful & the job security is extremely reassuring for people who feel anxious about the current job market & limited offerings.

Some of the work can be redundant. Unless there are opportunities presented to you, you can get stuck in the same position for years. Also, government work faces a lot of bureaucratic issues involving tedious responsibilities, delays in resolving specific issues.
