Vantaggi
Joined company when Qwest Communications. Typical fortune 500 environment, internal restructuring every few years. Opportunities to advance if you keep your ears open and are willing to move. I worked for the enterprise business unit (based in Denver). If you wanted upward mobility, in many cases you would have to move there (not always, but depended on your position). 3rd largest telco, good product sets, upgrading internal support systems for sales professionals. Using Salesforce and Miller Heiman sales training. Competent product management and support. Not a bad place to work.
Svantaggi
Left company after the acquisition (Centurylink acquired Qwest). Centurylink CEO came up through the ranks as accountant, CFO, then CEO. Very numbers driven. Research revealed same MO when acquiring other companies; SOP for first year, then downsize workforce and rebalance salaries, reorg. Not saying that's not a good approach for overall business, but employees need to beware and be positioned well.
