Vantaggi
Working at Lynntech provides a lot of unique opportunities for technical experience. There are many highly skilled and experienced engineers and scientist to learn from, making a great environment for anyone wanting to grow technically.
Being a small business, there are also plenty of chances to get involved beyond your core role - whether that's participating in interviews, writing proposals, managing projects, or stepping into leadership responsibilities. It could be a con for some, but if you're interested in diverse work and wearing multiple hats, its a big plus.
Work-life balance is excellent. It's rare that I have to work overtime. Lynntech has a very self-starter environment: if you want to pursue something new or build a new area of expertise, no one will stop you - as long as it provides value.
Another aspect I love about the job is the balance between hands on and analytical work. The engineers who thrive here are capable of doing both. It's extremely rewarding to design and analyze a component/system, and then a few months later, actually build, test, and validate it against that original design
Svantaggi
Salaries here are slightly below average, especially considering all the roles people often take on. 401K matching could be better, and insurance costs for dependents are quite high.
Lynntech also isn't for everyone. Success here requires balancing initiative with collaboration. Engineers who struggle here usually don't struggle technically (alot of this can be taught), but rather finding that balance: leaning too far into independence can mean wasting time on a problem that could be solved in a five-minute conversation, while leaning too heavily on collaboration can lead to dependency and slow progress.
Finally, since Lynntech focuses on contract work, every hours needs to be tracked and billed accordingly. This can create stress if you're underloaded and struggling to find billable work, or when you're overloaded and struggling to meet all your obligations.
Overall if you're self-driven, adaptable, and eager to grow technically, Lynntech can be a highly rewarding work place. But if you'd like a ton of structure and to be doing the same thing every year you may be better suited working elsewhere.
