I worked very hard for MRL for 3 years and was treated poorly. All employees were micromanaged and overly criticized. I was told there was room for growth but was belittled when I asked for a promotion, despite putting so much time and energy into the job and company. I was forced to sign a Non-Compete which the owner told me was completely enforceable (I have heard that former employees have been sued for violating). There was no work/life balance, I could barely take time to go to a doctor's appointment, the time would be taken out of your vacation if you couldn't make it up during the week (i.e. skipping lunch or working late). There was an extremely high turnover rate as the owner was very difficult to work with and set impossible standards. I would highly suggest working elsewhere at all costs.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I can sense deep frustration and anger which unfortunately creates an unbalanced review. Even the best companies in the world will get a critical review, so we will use this review as an opportunity for others to see as we believe in our success and track record & would like to encourage well-suited candidates to apply. First, tenure and performance determine a title or role promotion which is critical to an employee's growth within the organization. Each employee is given a default raise and bonus each year; given our rapid growth a "promotion" typically happens within 24 months. It is concerning to hear you were with the company for 3 years and did not receive a promotion at all. We would never "force" an employee to do anything, keeping in mind we are an at-will company and it is a choice to work here. I apologize if there was any confusion but we would never "force" an employee to sign a Non-Compete. We do maintain an open-door policy during the interview process, onboarding, and through the entirety of an employees career at MRL. Having these types of two-way conversations help to bring clarity to a discussion, question, or concern. Employees get a fair amount of PTO, paid Holidays, and flex-time. With over 85% of the company remote and the work/life balance given, it is almost impossible to use up all of your time . Our employees do work very hard and we take great pride in our people which is also why we invest heavily into personal time for our team. It is clear you endured some negative experiences in your time here and for that I apologize. We are an transparent & authentic culture which we recognize is not a fit for everyone. We are building a winning business and we understand that as we grow some of our TEAM members may not continue with us on this journey.

The team at MRL works quickly which allows the Sales team to prospect and be successful at bringing in more sales opportunities. This allows for a very intrapreneurial experience where I am able to manage my time and day based on clients needs and also prospect for future opportunities within clients and finding new ones too. Promotional products is a fast paced, detailed business which never stops which makes the day go by fast. The company growth has been tremendous and it is exciting to see every year how much we are growing and what the future will hold for The MRL Group.

Remote work and annual company trips

This company overworks its employees and has unrealistic expectations. The workload doesn’t match the time given to resolve issues, and even managers seem unable to handle it. This company is very disorganized, constantly changing and implementing new rules almost every week! The micromanagement is excessive—managers still hop into emails or ask to be CC’d even after 1–2 years. No one speaks up because management sees feedback as complaining, and the team doesn’t work together to speak up on work issues. The job offers flexibility, but that’s about it. To be favored here, you basically have to make this job your entire life and personality. This might be my most frustrating job, but people overlook the downsides because it’s remote. There are better options out there—keep searching.
