In just a few months, I've witnessed an unprecedented level of burnout among employees. Many have left, including the managing director and senior staff, and the entire HR team has been replaced. The company shows little regard for employees' well-being. I've seen architects approach HR, terrified of management, feeling hopeless and isolated. It was heartbreaking to be unable to help because management simply doesn't care. MVRDV does not care about its architects as I heard from management they can be replaced because many architect are in the job market very low salaries. Most architect would work 50or 60 hours/ week for 40hour salary. Maybe if Architect were better projected the industry would change. Additionally, there's an illegal market practice where salaries are being standardized across different architectural firms in the Netherlands. Success in this company isn't based on talent or hard work but on one's ability to talk and make friends with the leaders. Hard work goes unrewarded, and the founders are largely uninvolved.
