It's hard to use basic leave time, if you need to take more than 1 day off a week.
No additional pay for precepting or being the charge nurse (with a full patient assignment).
It's hard to take random days off between Memorial Day and Labor Day (1/3.of the year) I've worked here for 7+ years and Ive seen a drastic change in the community as well as the health system's priorities. When I first started the patient was the number 1 priority, now it's simply profits and getting as many people in and out as possible. Staffing ratios on floors have not been adjusted and patients are sicker and sicker. I work for 12 hours straight with no down time, often leaving feeling like I still had tasks I should have done, I just didn't have time.
When I first started the sense of community was there, now I barely know anyone that works there other than my immediate coworkers.
No benefits with tenure.
