Every day I wake up knowing I'm doing something worthwhile. It's not always interesting, though it usually is. It's not always fun, though it usually is. But it's always important. If I ever forget this, I just need to schedule a call with one of our students. Their stories are more powerful than a hundred pep talks. And I get to do this with a team of dedicated, caring, smart people.

There's that line given by the detective, told that they should take a few days off, "Crime doesn't take a vacation." We do take holiday (currently: three company weeks off a year plus uncapped annual leave) but more generally it's important to maintain boundaries working at Makers — the students will take however much you allow yourself to give.
