Staffing levels appeared to be intentionally kept low, which increased pressure on the team. I felt unwelcome from the outset due to the approach taken by my department manager and supervisors. Management communication at times felt patronising rather than supportive. There was no onsite staff parking, and I was penalised for leaving work to catch the last available train home. A culture of gossip and inconsistent messaging from management made it difficult to feel trusted or supported. Basic training was limited, which made it challenging to perform the role confidently. I was asked to sign off on health and safety induction materials (such as risk assessments) without being given proper access to review them. There appeared to be double standards around allergen management and inclusivity, including being instructed not to accommodate certain allergen-related dish modification requests, which raised concerns for me.

Hi There, Thanks for your reveiw. Glad you have enjoyed your time at Malmaison. We do offer a range of flexible contracts designed to work around both the employee and the needs of the hotel. These contracts do help maintain a work/ life balance but we do acknowledge that during peak times some shifts may seem longer than others. Ben
