Everything. Where do I begin? By far, the worst company I ever worked for in my life. I worked here for 1 month (Surprised I even made it a month). I was hired on as a "junior staff accountant". (even though all the duties of the role turned out to be heavy Staff Accountant duties. They just added in the "Junior" part so they can distinguish it from a Staff Accountant salary and not have to pay as much. Very clever. I come in to this role and notice everything is in shambles. First thing-186 unread emails and I was expected to have the inbox cleaned up within 1 day. Payments to vendors all severely past due. The reconciliations were months behind and I was expected to come in and clean all this up in 1 week after my two predecessors both resigned. The "training" process was a complete joke. The CFO undermined the controller (my direct manager) every step she could. She sat in on training meetings between me and my manger and verbally berated her in front of me on a regular basis. The controller resigned after the abuse and harassment from the CFO within my first week. I completely get it. At that point, the CFO would bad mouth and insult the controller to me even sharing messages the controller sent to her in confidence. She called the controller "not bright" and told me the controller "doesn't know what shes doing" in front of me and poked fun at her in our staff meetings behind her back. She constantly talks about how great of a CFO she is and how she has to do everything because of the high turnover--with absolutely no self awareness as to why everyone leaves to begin with. She decided to take over the training part and told the controller not to train me anymore because she thought the controller wasn't smart enough. And let me tell you, this controller was fantastic and brilliant with 25 years of experience. During the course of her training with me, she overwhelmed me with so much work in my first 2 weeks that I was drowning and miserable. She offered no support, just expectations and criticisms with no acknowledgement that i'm still new and need some time to get acclimated especially given how much of a mess everything had been. She would lose patience and say "why cant you get this in your brain" amongst many other disrespectful and down right mean comments she would make towards me. Shes always yelling, always angry. I quit the job and subsequently ended up with my dream job a week later and I couldn't be more happier. So, the lesson is to stay away from this company and to be patient while applying for jobs and the right opportunity will come. There is absolutely no reason anyone should be working in the finance/accounting department while this CFO is still employed and head of the department. Complete toxic nightmare.
