This company HAD a chance to be something and WAS well funded. There were several really talented software engineers who were great to work with. We had a great technical leader.There were some promising technologies, but our sales team/leaders couldn't sell them.

This company has no direction/vision at all under the new management team. I worked on several projects and all of them were either got killed or posponed indefinitely without any explicit explanations. Sales team couldn't sell our product. The new management team were very horrible and displayed no trust or respect for their employees. Most of the talented developers left, including some of the developers who had stayed with this company since the beginning. The management team is not like any other startups who would actively seek suggestions and improvements. Instead they are very sensitive and narrow minded, so be very careful of what you suggest. No sick day and only 15 days of vacation. No Work From Home is allowed. If you get sick, our CEO will ask you to take vacations. So don't get sick! Be sure to use your vacation hours because if you ever decide to leave this company, they will not pay your unused vacation hours according to the new policy No career opportunity.

Wear jeans to work every day. Excellent medical/dental/FSA benefits provided by outsourced HR. Developers coming from a large corporation will be relieved to be unencumbered by bureaucracy. Sysadmins do an good job of providing enterprise-quality dev infrastructure on a budget. Development is agile and there is a solid SDLC process. Could be a could gateway job to a career in equities/options trading.

Be prepared to work 10-12 hour days to keep pace, and more at crunch time. PTO policy is archaic and uncompetitive, and there is no sick time. Don't expect to be paid comparably with developers putting in those kind of hours in midtown Manhattan. Don't expect a bonus, no matter how hard you work. Good people get laid off when money is tight.
