Extremely low pay, poor management, doesn't create well-rounded designers, HR department is run by a corporate lawyer who looks out for the owner's interests - not the employees, lazy copy-and-paste designs, the principal designer sometimes comes hungover to presentations and meetings, lack of racial diversity. This company has a very high turnover for a really simple reason... low pay. Senior management has a somewhat negative opinion about young people (millennials) - ageist remarks were often made in jest. Promotion does not necessarily mean a pay raise. Management has the attitude that everyone is easily replaceable so don't expect your concerns or issues to be taken seriously or fixed. Splitting the firm into 2 departments, Interior Detailing and FF&E, designers only gain experience in their perspective area thus missing vital experience working in the other discipline. This can create a serious handicap for new designers. Double standard and special treatment in the enforcement of rules i.e. dress code, tardiness, time off, etc.
