People are leaving.... - Recensione dipendente - Senior Developer presso Market Logic Software

Since some time we have a new organization. We had high hopes that things would go better but the situation didn't move in the right direction. It has been decided to outsource a big part of the development into Russia which may have caused layoffs across the company. This lead to the loss of trust. The company seems now to be polarised with “fanboys” on one side and people who are not so fond of all the lies being peddled around as success. Most of the employees are very demotivated which was evident by the results of the engagement survey. Many people are leaving and the Product Management, for example, completely resigned in 6 or 7 months. The attrition is also pretty strong now in Engineering and Design. We are a small company and we are losing massive knowledge and competences due to attrition. This makes the situation difficult for new joiners because of the gap of knowledge transfer. The only solution seems to be hiring more managers. What ticked the engineering is that these various hirings in management level happened after massive layoffs from Engineering as the company wanted to be “slim” and didn’t have much money. Presently it feels that the only strategy we have is to get rid of people that do not match the new company culture. The management is caught many times hiding the truth and refusing the sincerity of the situation. We speak about empowerment whereas this is in fact more of a "delegation pattern" where the management has taken a totally hands-off and “no decision” approach. My last point: people with a strong ego and no empathy are a big problem. With comments like “People are leaving, and this is a natural process and a chance...” after firing many people gives a very bad impression!
