Manager level and below on the marketing team were all wonderful to work with. More often than not I always had a very pleasant experience working with the professionals as well.

This review in no way is meant to reflect on Marks Paneth as a whole, its benefits, overall firm culture or any other team dynamic apart from the marketing team.  I was conflicted with writing this review for multiple reasons. First and foremost, I did not want to come off as a disgruntled ex-employee— as I understand many “bad” reviews on Glassdoor can. My goal is to speak only in fact, as I think it is a disservice not to have this out in the world for individuals pursuing a career on the Marks Paneth marketing team.  To be clear and concise, if you are considering a role on the Marks Paneth marketing team, I would reconsider. While it was a privilege to work with particular members of this team, they are all unfortunately long gone due to the same reason for my resignation - the team’s leadership. If you work on the Marks Paneth marketing team you will be working for a very difficult personality. If the HR team asks you when interviewing, “How do you handle difficult personalities?” They are not asking you this as a general question. They are asking you this with one particular person in mind. Also, when interviewing it is important to inquire how long team members have been there, or what normal turnover is on the team. I do believe their answer will speak for itself. I would encourage anyone perusing a career on this team to ask A LOT of questions during the interview process specifically about team dynamic and leadership. Ask any questions you need to to feel comfortable disproving this review. It is also worthwhile to state that if you are a go-getter, looking to advance in your career, this may not be the place for you. As the team currently stands you will encounter constantly shifting priorities, leadership having trouble remembering tasks they assigned to you and antiquated tactics and inefficient use of technologies. Overall, the way the team currently stands makes it difficult for you to succeed. I do not want to discount the normalcy of a fast paced, adaptive nature that is typically expected when working in marketing. Things come up. People need help. You need to reprioritize your day. It happens! Of course it’s normal for anyone who has worked in marketing. But to be clear, this is NOT what I am referring to above. I understand and acknowledge it may be a luxury to have the perfect job or perfect team. However, I felt compelled to write this review because the issues you will face on the Marks Paneth marketing team are unacceptable and unsustainable. Now, after everything I have listed above you may think- why didn’t you say anything while there? Well, the short answer is, I did. In fact, many of us did. Directly to the team lead and HR. Some of us even received an apology from leadership with the promise of change. Some of us did not and our concerns were dismissed. Either way, desired change was always short lived and we were back on the hamster wheel. If you do get through this entire review and still accept a position on the Marks Paneth marketing team, that’s okay. As I said above, I know the world of Glassdoor reviews can be filled with past disgruntled employees— and it can be hard to separate fact from emotion. A lot of time has passed for me since I left this role and with that I have given myself ample time to reflect on my experience. And, after all of this time, I decided it would be a disservice not to have this documented. The world of marketing, and even marketing for professional services, is quite large. I would highly suggest looking elsewhere until there is a change in leadership.
