Vantaggi
The policies are good, the store is nice to be in, and the scheduling is fairly flexible.
Svantaggi
Management does not follow policy very well, especially when it comes to returns. They will frequently side against their employee who was following policy, and have even told us to never tell a customer "no" for any reason. The management is not open to criticism or questions, and then they reprimand employees for being confused about company policy or day-to-day activities. Promotion within the store does not happen in a timely or fair manner. Often it seems that the managers have picked out an employee to promote and then only interview others to give the impression of fairness. We are often left without a coordinator for excessive amounts of time, which results in a hastily given promotion and minimal training. They also have told employees they would promote them, only to give the promotion to another employee under a flimsy excuse. Training is hardly done and is not at all consistent. There seems to be no manual or guide for properly training employees, and the employees designated to train often do not know they will be training a new hire until that new hire shows up for work. There is no preparation or thought to how training will be done, which means that the new hire has spotty training and is often left not knowing how things should be done. The rate of pay hardly makes putting up with everything worth it. At my store it's minimum wage unless you're a coordinator of some sort, even with previous experience. To go from a part-time employee to a full-time one, the raise is only about $1, which is hardly worth it if you were only making minimum to begin with. I barely make enough to pay my bills, even with full-time hours. That should be more than enough, yet I still come up short a lot of the time.
