There are very limited positives for MedPoint Digital. If I have to say one thing it is the people and by the people I am NOT including ownership. Being a small company you deal with ownership more often than not so it is important to note ownership is not a positive. My colleagues were nice, supportive people and that is what made the company bearable.

There were 2 layoffs in one year and those that were left were told we “are lucky to have our jobs and to be thankful for that”. The owners have no grasp on reality and think that in addition to the layoffs that their staff leaving is not cause for concern nor is it ever addressed. For example, the team I was on was 40, that now consists of 10 and continued to drop. More work is put on those that are left with minimal raises. They track your time in different applications and compare it to a manual time sheet you submit to decide how hard you’re working but the catch is they care more about “butts in seats” (the CEOs words) than the actual work itself. I was told at one point to jiggle my mouse to reach 8-9 hours of active work a day if I finished my work in less time. When I asked for more work or projects I was told “it’s your responsibility as a senior PM to find things to do”. Another example of no career path or leadership although expected to fill 8-9 hours a day. No opportunity for growth, when asked about assisting with a PMP the owner is worried that if he helps an employee succeed they will leave to go somewhere better. Reviews were a hard time because when discussing growth there was no where to grow or go within the company since it had gotten so small. If this review can give any advice it is to steer clear from a dysfunctional company with no HR department. The “HR” department is the CEOs wife. There are no checks and balances and ownership makes all the rules that change day to day. Not a stable place to work.
