Flexibility of hours, not being stuck in a clinic herding patients through like cattle, independence. I always had as much work as I wanted, but I lived in a huge metropolitan city. However, most of my patients lived in poor ghetto areas and it was a bit scary driving alone and visiting some of these hoods. They pay more for visits that require lab draws, but it is annoying having to carry all the supplies and deliver to the lab at the end of the day.

long hours of at home charting (EMR is not user friendly), poor reimbursement fee for no show appointments ($20, this isn't even close to the average hourly rate of a NP), problems with scheduling clerks. No consistency in your paycheck, some weeks I had a 50% no show rate because the company does not call to remind the patients of the appointments in advance. Providers don't get the schedule until 7 PM the night before, so it is usually too late to call the patient in the evening. Most of my patients lived in poor ghetto areas and it was a bit scary driving alone and visiting some of these hoods.

Our sincerest apologies you felt the no-show fee was not significant enough; this is an agreed upon rate with the health plan client. In the future, we will be sure to consider your suggestion of increasing the no-show payment and negotiate as necessary. MedXM is given the opportunity to see a multitude of health plan members in a variety of areas. It is our duty to connect hard to reach members and their plans through our services, regardless of what geographic area they live in. We are sorry to see you felt unsafe at times, but we can only imagine how special the members felt when they were offered an in-home doctor's visit despite where they live.
