I love doing mission-oriented work that does good in the world. There's a decent chance that if you're here reading reviews about Medic on Glassdoor you are also interested in this kind of mission-oriented work. Work done here is really that. It's always fun to build software and see anyone use it, but the impact of our work is the most rewarding I've experienced. The low-resource setting makes it hard, but that is really just the extra challenge and part of what makes the work enjoyable. I can finish an exhausting week but always know it was worth it. It's hard to say that for many other jobs out there. Something that tends to go well with work that does good in the world is the amount of opportunity there is a Medic. Beyond what a teammate has for official job responsibilities, there are always opportunities to see places to help and just do it. It's rewarding to make these kinds of extra contributions and know how much it matters. Another big plus at Medic is having wonderful teammates. Real attention is paid to this and people actually care about each other. We're a very distributed team so depending on where you live you might go a while before seeing people in person. Effort is put into making sure people still know each other and teammates are always ready to help each other out. On the subject of the wonderful teammates here, it's important to note the diversity present at Medic. It's a joy to get to work with so many people of so many different nationalities.

Drastically different time zones can make things more difficult. At times you just want to get something done and end up needing to wait until the next day to get an answer from someone. At other times people need to meet across time zones and it may be very early in the morning for one person or late at night for another. Teammates are good at accommodating and trying to share the burden, but it's definitely a factor that comes up with such a distributed team. Working remotely/distributed is less fun than in-person. This of course it just my general opinion on that style of work and differs from person-to-person. It is something to be aware of though if you're thinking about if working on a distributed team is for you.

Very smart, mission driven team living all over the world. Culturally diverse and inclusive, remote first, a lot of international travel for some team members. Investment in global all-staff retreats is awesome!
Svantaggi
The whole C-suite and most of the leadership team has turned over in the last two years. The people left are all really stressed and pretty negative. Like others have said, global team is cool until you have to schedule a call.
