Vantaggi

Helpful and supportive coworkers in the unit

Svantaggi

PATIENT RATIO IS 1 to 4 but you get 5 very often; TECH IS 4 to 36 but only if you're lucky; most of the time its 3 techs or many times it's just 2 micromanagement to the extreme- im talking nitpicky about the smallest details; good deeds never get recognized, management never acknowledges good RN performances, management relies heavily on what patients say and what the higher ups, it is hard to tell whether the management listens to the employees or has their back or not, techs and RNs ALWAYS short handed, techs and RNs float even if the unit needs them, matching with the employee "matrix" if a major flaw, we are always shorthanded on staff, this short staffing is causing a lot of techs to be crabby to RNs just because both are overworked; there are several nights where we only had 2 techs in a 36 bed unit; also working in this unit means that you can float anywhere in the hospital, oftentimes when you float, they give you the worst patients of the unit, I've heard of some nurses getting 6 total q2 turns patients in a 12 hour shift; the only reason i come to work with a positive attitude is my RN coworkers, Basically: 1. Understaffing 2. High workload 3. Micromanagement 4. Management expects you to do the impossible and overwork yourself every shift

Vantaggi

Coming from a smaller size hospital but big company like Methodist and known high paying hospital in DFW, I needed more shifts. Since MDMC is bigger than my other PRN, I have higher chance of getting shifts because there are more monitoring stations, more staff taking PTOs, higher chance of staff calling out sick and therefore opening the shift, etc.

Svantaggi

More workload and higher census! Almost 50 patients on heart monitor per station.

We're glad to hear that the flexibility and availability of shifts have been a benefit for you. As one of the region's largest health systems, Methodist offers opportunities that can help PRN team members find the schedule that works best for them. We also recognize that higher patient volumes and workload expectations can come with working in a busy, high-acuity environment. Supporting our team members remains a priority, and we continually evaluate our compensation programs and workplace resources to remain competitive and help our employees succeed. Thank you for the important role you play in caring for our patients and for being a valued member of the Methodist family.
