Like many honest and ambitious folks here, I'm on my way out. I can't move up or on - despite my dedication to the company. Most leave after 2 years, which is a good enough dose. Anyone there for longer than 4 is either a great schmoozer or puts their tail between their legs. The company has never kept staff that sees the bigger picture. They hire college kids who've barely been outside the state. Not a family-friendly place. There have been promises of growth and ingenuity for years - but the best people get cornered and kicked out. (These people move on to become highly successful, better paid, and much happier in complex and bigger places.) A Seattle magazine listed Metia as a top place to work - this magazine is known for helping companies self-promote, not for un-biased reviews. Work is rushed. Managers, delivery teams refuse to communicate - to each other or the client. Billable hours matter more than anything else. The blame game starts as soon as the client signs on. Sick days are held against you - and teleworking was taken removed because lack of trust. Company parties are like middle school mixers - cheap, cliquey, and over early. When clients come to the office, no one knows the wifi key, no one offers a beverage (there isn't any), people are barely introduced. Project and account managers never send follow ups of meetings to teams. The projects aren't that interesting - hard to represent to anyone outside of MSFT, and it's the more stale side of MSFT. Credit is stolen by directors and the VP. Whole sides of the office take sides and war against each other - account vs. delivery. HR and Finance only support the VP's interests. If you like to schmooze, gossip, and use a fake British accent (no kidding!) - this is the place for you.
