Vantaggi
It's a very small team so there's a lot of opportunities to learn about how a small business works and get insight into various departments (stores, warehouse, buying, marketing etc.)
Svantaggi
The biggest problem is the founder and the lack of direction for the business. God forbid the company starts growing “too big” and she won’t have control of every aspect of the business, but gets upset and blames staff when sales are too low, so there are a lot of mixed messages. The founder needs to approve EVERYTHING, which is difficult when she disappears for weeks on secret vacations or isn’t at the office (4/5 days a week). She doesn’t trust her own employees to come up with new ideas and execute them. Instead, she’ll say it’s not the right time and then turn around and present you and the team YOUR OWN ideas as if they were hers a week later. It’s shocking. There is no consistency or stability in this job. The founder is constantly restructuring the team and laying people off (even someone who was on mat leave). This means everyone walks on eggshells and is afraid to be the next one to go. Overall, this company looks great from the outside but once you settle in here, you get pigeonholed and realize there isn't room for professional growth.
