Firstly, thank you for recognizing the value and importance of our platform. We are immensely proud of the product we are building, which is positively impacting the lives of employees around the world. It’s also great to see the acknowledgment of the incredible team we have here at Modern Health - this is, in my opinion, one of the things that sets us apart.
2023 brought significant economic headwinds for the global technology industry as a whole resulting in many industry-wide layoffs, including at some of the biggest companies in the world. Unfortunately, Modern Health was not immune to these economic trends, and we had to make the difficult decision to reduce our workforce to strategically position the company for long-term success. Handling these tough situations is never easy, and I’m sorry if you feel we let you down here.
While we have made some adjustments to our policies, we are really proud of the benefits we offer employees. In addition to traditional health insurance, we provide employees with robust mental health support, including 20 free coaching and 15 free therapy sessions via the Modern Health platform as well as support for their dependents. We also provide family planning support via Carrot Fertility, financial support through Origin, family, pet & house care through UrbanSitter, as well as 20 days (+11 company holidays and 4 mental health days) PTO per year. Additionally, we provide an annual financial stipend for professional development and well-being. We believe these benefits are extremely competitive for our industry and the size and stage of the company, and we are committed to continually evaluating them.
Your feedback on transparency is noted, and we are actively working to continue to improve in this area. In addition to our monthly All Hands, we are also running monthly Town Hall meetings providing an open forum for the leadership team to answer pre-submitted and live questions from the team. These meetings, along with increased surveys and pulse checks, are part of our ongoing efforts to foster open communication and transparency within the company.
Like all companies and despite our best efforts, we are not perfect. However, we genuinely appreciate your openness in sharing your concerns, and we will certainly take them into consideration.
