Moloco’s benefits are insanely good. They borrow liberally from Google’s practices of spoiling the individual (noting the strategy behind this is pretty arch).

This used to be such a promising company where everyone was proud of their work and contributions. Last year, leadership on the business side of the house completely turned over with the addition of Sunil as chief business officer. Where decisions had historically been about data and insights, they became about bias and politics. Where challenges used to be met with collaboration and creativity, they became an opportunity for blame and villainy. Management is now super chaotic and all about platitudes and bluster. And this has all amounted in a company of people all with very, very similar backgrounds. Seriously, if your resume doesn’t scream Google or another similarly prestigious brand, you will have a very hard time, even if your colleagues and stakeholders support your work and your numbers are awesome. As a result, the culture of cronyism is visible throughout the company, and even those in engineering and product (who aren’t otherwise subject to Sunil’s behavior and operating model) feel like Moloco has lost some of its vibrancy and credibility.

Senior leadership across go-to-market, product, and business functions lacks alignment and clear strategic direction, which has negatively impacted execution and overall company momentum and morale. Workload can be intense, with many competing priorities and limited clarity on what matters most. Employees who don’t align closely with the prevailing culture (Korean/Male) may find it difficult to be recognized or promoted.
