We make a point to include a cross-section of managers from different levels in our interview process, as we believe that it's important for our senior people to know who and how are we hiring. Moreover, we do strongly believe in considering internal candidates for larger roles, as we want people to have a career, not just a job, at MongoDB. That being said, we always do a mix of external hires and internal promotions given how fast we are growing and to ensure that we attract and keep the best people in the industry. I'm sorry you had such a negative experience; we are constantly working to improve the culture of all of our different teams, and making sure all our teams, not just sales, acts with integrity (assuming that is the opposite of 'slimy'). While I take your feedback seriously, given our results and other candid feedback we receive (even on glassdoor) I'd like to believe your experience is the exception, and not the rule.
