The compensation for traveling employees is excellent. "Rotations" can be nice, this is when you get a few extra days off every few weeks. (Setup varies between work groups.) Meet lots of people/see areas you may have never been before. Ability to feel like you are doing something important. Lots of supportive people mixed in. Great resume booster. Company wants you to advance. Lots of work in the renewable groups.

Depending on the project/group work hours can get rough. My project routinely worked 10 hr shifts 6 days a week with the engineers expected to be there an extra hour or two past when the field workers were there. Solar and wind project tends to be in rural areas which can add a lengthy commute on top. Gay/Trans topics were treated as a joke among my team onsite. You need to have tough skin if you are queer and in the field. I also witnessed some comments I would consider racist. Corporate main office culture is vastly different from field culture. Management in my group shifted a good bit while I was there and turnover among engineers is high. Company only wants you to advance where/when they need you, not necessarily where you want to go.
