Generally, the coworkers you have are some of the best you'll encounter and they become a family to you. Depending on your position, you have the opportunity to work closely with many top companies and top advertising agencies across the country that will give you invaluable experience and perspective. You also get the opportunity to work with many people with different backgrounds across the country who are incredibly smart. There used to be a lot of great aspects to this company but unfortunately internal and external factors are contributing to its demise.

There is significant turnover in many departments driven by ineffective and dictatorial leadership that's driven from the top. There is very little stability in the sales department which is the lifeblood of the company and hampers achieving revenue goals which adds to the top-down pressure everyone experiences. The CEO is a highly volatile "leader" who identifies favorites across every level of the organization. The executive leadership is built not a meritocracy but one that is loyal to him or the best "yes" person. This translates into poor department leadership for most areas and they simply delegate his desires without thinking through the ask or viability for fear of coming under his ire. To applicants, the company will likely tout it was voted "Best Place to Work" several years ago. This is and true and it was a great place to work but the company environment is a shell of what it once was. Many of the leaders and employees who really made it a great place are long gone. A question to ask in the interview process is what has been the rankings the past 2 years and how much turnover has occurred within the organization. If you are in Sales you will be on a very tight leash before they plan and terminate you. Externally, COVID has put considerable pressure on the viability of the company long term and my opinion it's more likely to be sold and consolidated with another larger company in a similar advertising space. The company is owned by private equity and that creates it's only challenges as most try and force more and more out of less. The market demand for shared print advertising is not what it once was and I don't see significant growth in the future without any sort of viable digital offerings like the other competitors have. Mspark has tried to add digital several times and it never has stuck for a variety of market and internal reason.

Lack any type of vision for the company. Every day felt like a fire drill, trying to run after whatever senior leadership thought would stick. The company has no idea who they want or need to be and usually falls on the frontline teams.
