An association of college and university CFOs, the work is meaningful. Members are great to work with, and the collegial nature of higher education makes our job of sharing best practices and information easier. The small staff allows room for growth. Flexible personnel polices, 35 hour work week, good benefits including great retirement savings. Part of active DC association community.

Svantaggi

Employees are not always valued as they deserve to be and information is not shared forthrightly. Very slow to recruit new employees to fill vacancies, counting on existing staff to cover for months. Investment in technology often not driven by business needs.

Higher education is going through so many significant changes, it's an exciting market. Our members are the chief business officers/CFOs, their level of experience and expertise is high, and they are engaged with their association. Great office location (pre-COVID-19), salaries and benefits are fine. New CEO joined two years ago, has strong industry and association experience and vision, and is attempting to right a drifting ship, and it's proving to be challenging.

So much turmoil and restructuring, and yet still dealing with a fair amount of "this is how we've always done it" attitude. Recent layoffs were particularly challenging, losing significant institutional memory along with some highly-respected staff. And yet a few have managed to get coveted promotions - it all depends on which team you are on. Recent layoffs have left many doing multiple jobs, with seemingly little realization by leadership that certain tasks need to have someone own them. Employee benefits have been cut significantly and repeatedly over the last several years. The retirement contribution had been amazing, now it's just average.
