There seemed to be a gap between the vision the Japanese have for the company and the way the American executive management team struggles to implement the aforementioned vision. From my perspective the American executive management team was weak and lacked the telephony knowledge and experience to lead NEC Unified Solutions. That's not to say there were no knowledgeable managers or Directors at Unified but what was lacking was (is) strong leadership from the President and some of the Vice Presidents. A company like Unified cannot be managed like a democracy, someone has to be in charge and willing to make hard decisions, Unified lacks the leadership necessary to pull the management team together and have the company working towards common goals. Constant reorganization and reduction in force are signs of weak leadership.
