Svantaggi
No amount of the recent spades of five star reviews from the company’s CEO or the senior leadership team on this platform is enough to save the NEC Group’s reputation. The new management team operate under an aggressive, sales mentality and ‘like it or leave’ culture which closes the communication gaps and leaves no room for collaboration or input from the team who have hundreds of years experience in the industry between them. The staff that have left the company in recent months speaks volumes of employees’ belief in the organisation. There are regular instances of blatant lies and pure dishonesty from the leaders - including promises of no future staff restructures or losses earlier this year (yet more have already come out in July 2024), ignoring the general public in their asks about the company’s position on Bradford Live, and blaming previous culture for the orgs current position (which the CEO loves to describe as treacle). I wonder what the blame adjective will be in a year’s time… The business plan and approach to restructuring from the CEO and the handpicked London centric team feels as if it’s being made up as the team go along. A sales focused, retail led strategy is being applied to what was once a cultural and community focussed organisation. The focus on ‘premiumisation’ in the backdrop of the organisation not even being able to attract top musical talent to its venues or even sell out arenas, in a cost of living crisis, speaks to the lack of knowledge and blatant ignorance the senior leadership team have about the industry, local economy and region. A retail sales strategy is attempting to be applied to what used to be a respected, national cultural and community focussed organisational. If you have any aspirations for a fulfilling career in the live events industry, or even any self respect, you will do best to avoid this company in its current form and management team.
