Vantaggi
Grad network is great Lots of opportunities to develop (if your advocate for yourself) Looks good for your cv as a first job GMTS staff are very engaged and supportive Some grads have great placements - however placements work like a lottery, a bad placement could ruin your experience. Great opportunity to learn about the NHS if done correctly.
Svantaggi
The scheme has little structure and a lot of admin (competencies/ studying/ setting up placements) often the volume of work will bleed into your personal time The level of risk some grads have to take is inconsistent and considering how junior we are and the salary for the role this should be better overseen. It’s not consistent some grads have far more responsibility than others. Some are leading teams and others are completing admin work. You’ll often have advocate for yourself daily which can be wearing. Your going in blind, you won’t know the department/managers/culture, you’ll need to be flexible and adaptable. You might be on the bench for 4 months or thrown in at the deep end. Both grads would still have the same education requirements/scheme admin. - bare this in mind. If you land in a poor team/ culture. Your stuck navigating this for a year Cutting of action learning sets without notice was a blow
