Vantaggi
These days there are very few good reasons to work for NJC. The two that come to mind are that a) you will have a job and b) you'll get paid.
Svantaggi
NJC (Not Just Cleaning) used to be a pretty good cleaning company focusing on London and the Thames Valley areas. Since the original board changed about 7 years ago attention to detail and quality has dramatically decreased. The number one priority for several years has been a push on growth despite widespread service quality issues. Several high profile contracts have been lost in the last few years as a result of the lower quality standards. Compounding the loss of contracts a serious lack in staffing on the business development team has led to a very poor attainment of new contracts. NJC has a very outdated set of values being forced to spell the word 'outlier' for some reason. NJC being nowhere near an 'outlier'. More recently the board rebranded the business as NJCDNA. Whilst the logo itself looks good the use of DNA is completely confusing. This was another drive from the board whose message often confuses staff with made up or wrongly used terminology. With regards to staffing, NJC has a much higher rate of turnover than it should do. Senior managers come and go on a frequent basis with good managers tending to leave for one of the more reputable cleaning or FM companies. Staff benefits are basic and use an 'off the shelf' provider. Despite many promises over the years, the benefits remain rudimentary although staff seem to be expected to be grateful for these 'rewards'. The technological innovations that helped drive the company for the last 8 years are being switched out in favour of an antiquated system from Templa. The long-term cost of that changeover will no doubt be considerable for very little if any reward. The recent redundancy of the in-house development team has left the innovative WasteMonitor solution in tatters. The existing units use hardware that is failing and with no suitable replacement hardware, it is hard to imagine that NJC will be able to support them for long. When NJC no longer likes or has a use for a member of staff they are often pushed out with one or another mechanism (legal of course but not honorable). Any redundancy payments are the bare minimum despite any works that individuals have done for the company. A frequent recruitment/retention method used by the board is to promise shares and or bonuses but these are not given out. This might change in the future but only after the low-quality non-shareholding board members have had their fill. NJC is a company with no good qualities anymore. I would certainly not recommend that any professional considers working for NJC. I would also recommend that any company looking to use their services carefully consider alternate providers. With a large number of demonstrably high-quality providers out there NJC should certainly be only considered as a last resort. It is sad but these days NJC is now just another low-quality cleaning provider.
