Vantaggi
A firsthand look at leadership styles often associated with tech startup stereotypes.
Svantaggi
It seems NakedDev has recently been making a push to improve its Glassdoor presence, based on the number of posts from leadership and admin assistant. Payments were one of the biggest issues during my time at Naked Dev. It often felt like there was a constant balancing act in who got paid, with some roles paid later than others depending on the month. Over time, as concerns about late payments grew, many team members and contractors who raised these issues were no longer with the company. In my experience, payments were repeatedly delayed, and in some cases were not resolved until legal pressure was involved. Even then, back payments appeared to be handled through negotiation rather than proactively. To my knowledge, some employees and contractors are still waiting on payment, while the company continues to bring in new workers. Additionally, many projects moved through the design pipeline, but only a small fraction appeared to reach full development. A large number seemed to remain in prolonged development without clear resolution. Late payments were a recurring issue, and there was little to no proactive communication when delays occurred. At the same time, hours were closely scrutinized and sometimes reduced, which made the lack of timely payment even more difficult to navigate. When concerns were raised, explanations often shifted between being out of office, personal circumstances, or payroll platforms like Gusto. These explanations frequently did not align with what was being experienced, which created a growing sense of distrust. There was also a noticeable disconnect between the company’s stated values and its actions. Leadership, coming from pastoral backgrounds, regularly spoke about work ethic and integrity, yet struggled to meet the basic expectation of paying contractors on time. That contradiction was difficult to overlook.
