Vantaggi
- The pay is piece rate for installation. This was unusual when I started, but for me it's great. I get paid based on the amount of effort that I put in, which can equate to some great pay.
- There is a matching 401k
- There is life, medical, eye, dental insurance partially covered by the company.
- Out of town work is optional, and has paid hotels and per-diem allotment for food.
- Paid vacation and holidays.
Svantaggi
Being a piece rate job has downs as well. When there is a lull in building there is less money to be made. When there is a lot of jobs it gets really physically demanding to keep up, but the payoff is well worth it if you can keep up.
- If you aren't ready for a lot of hard work this job will not be for you. It is physically demanding and the hours can be unpredictable.
- The medical insurance offered is not good. for a family plan the premiums you pay is around $12k a year and the deductible is around $5k, with out of pocket max somewhere around $10k, resulting in around 20ish thousand dollars for healthcare using the company policy. The pay is enough to cover this and still be worth it.
