Vantaggi
NatureBridge is an incredible place to work in environmental education. You get to work with students for a whole week, design your own plans for the week to best match your student/schools needs and interests, and spend your days in Yosemite National Park (or their other incredible locations). There are many opportunities for career advancement from the educator positions into half-time leadership positions & half-time educating. If you put in the effort to take on leadership, your voice will be heard. As an entry level manager after many years of teaching, I got to take on leadership of many different projects and really shape our campus's experience. I've grown a ton both personally and professionally working here
Svantaggi
All kinds of natural disasters occur when living in a National Park (fire, floods, blizzards, winds, rockfalls etc.) usually once or twice a year. It takes flexible employees to be ready for anything. It can also be challenging to feel somewhat out-of-touch decisions being made by senior leadership and c-suite employees who I have never seen on our campus in 5 years here, but our campus team in Yosemite works hard to portray our somewhat complicated reality and advocate for our needs. Of course I also wish the pay was better, but compared to similar companies across the outdoor education industry it's actually pretty decent especially when you include housing and other pieces of the larger compensation package.
