Vantaggi

- Salary & benefits good for the most part, benefits totally lacking compared to other Silicon Valley companies - Good work/life balance, most teams very supportive of this

Svantaggi

- Serious diversity problem. The average NetApp employee (at least from what I've seen on campus) is a 50+ white or Indian man, who's worked there 10+ years and will probably retire soon. - Each location is like a completely different company with a different culture. The Boulder office seems to think/act more like a startup. People working together in open desks, huge selection of free snacks & beer, and I've heard stories about their wild Christmas parties. Sunnyvale is not like that. Traditional cube structure, no snacks/beer, and last year (pre-covid)'s Christmas party was on-campus in the middle of the day. Waltham more similar to Sunnyvale than Boulder, but can't speak for other offices. - Constant reorgs. In my first 3 years, I had 4 bosses. - I have been really disappointed by management's response to COVID-19. We get a $50 a month credit to get what we need to work from home, but that's not enough to buy supplies we actually need, like ergonomic chairs, proper monitors, etc. We had a "mental health" shut down in the summer but were required to take PTO.

Vantaggi

Amongst the top companies in the data storage industry = company stability.

Svantaggi

If you'd ask me a year or 2 ago, I would have given the company 5 stars. But, as with most tech companies now, they've started to follow the trend of return to office, regardless of logic. There's little to no room for exceptions and the company would rather sacrifice productivity regardless if they know the hardships for people living in metros (one way commute to the NY or SJC office can take 2 hours one way!) - that and there's no commuter benefits. You have to pay out of pocket and live in fear of not receiving your bonus if you miss the "thrive together" quarterly requirements.
