Vantaggi
I enjoy working on the surgical floor because of the surgeons, although we have lost a lot of good ones due to the hospital changes currently going on, the ones we do have are nice to work with.
Svantaggi
Very, very worried about the future of this hospital. I have worked here a long time and seen tons of changes but we are at our absolute worst. Moral is low with recent 400 layoffs/relocation of employees. No charge nurses is the craziest thing we have ever seen. Charge nurses who were hands on have been reached with CUL's, Clinical Unit Leaders. The so called leaders are a waste of time and money. You don't need to be a nurse to do what they do as they never lay a finger on a patient. We had a team of 6 and now we are down to one who has only been a nurse for a few years. This CUL comes in at 11 pm, is eating by midnight and sits in the office for hours with the door closed doing who knows what. The CUL's do not help out on the floor and therefore we have all lost a valuable resource for those of us who are in the trenches day and night working for people who have no idea what patient care is even about as they tell us this is a "Business". It's sad to have seen where we used to be and where we are now. I love being a nurse and taking care of my patients but the extra stress that you have to endure here is out of control. With the changes put in place by VIA we have had VP's, COO's, CNO's and MS's. Doing rounds on Sunday nights around midnight. They walk around all dressed up with smiles on their faces and saying we appreciate you but they don't as their actions speak much louder than their words with an increased patient load, no secretary most of the time, no one to help you when you are drowning as we all drown together. It is so unsafe and if I were a patient I would and do not come here as I go to a CMC facility for my care. It's very unclean here, rooms go days without trash collection, days without being mopped, housekeeping that can't speak English to even know what to do when spoken to or there are the Africsn Americans that have a chip and just date you to complain about them do they can say "Discrimination". We have lost so many great employees and now they hire new pros for less money, no experience that know no better than to just agree to what they are being told to do.
