We have OFF Days (ORCID First Fridays, where the first Friday of every month, we all have a shared day off); paid 1-hr breaks (making it really a 7-hour workday), plus we're all-remote, with flexible schedules. We also have a remote stipend, and great people/colleagues.

Working across timezones can be challenging, but being global has its benefits, too. We also have limitations as a small nonprofit, which is to be expected.

ORCID has been a great employer for me. This is my first remote position, and I'm not sure I could ever go back to a traditional office environment. Unlike other companies, all employees are remote so we're all able to engage in the same manner. The biggest perk of working at ORCID for me is their support of families, and I feel trusted to get my job done, but also tend to my family when something pops up. ORCID is a non-profit, and you definitely feel the sense of mission and commitment when working here.

The hardest part is that we're a global organization so different time zones can be challenging.
