The company is run by its sales department. The customers are multi-billion dollar corporations that use OSIsoft's product line to reduce their operating costs by some small percentage. The resulting savings are in the millions of dollars, which the salespeople use to justify the high cost of the software. That price has little correlation to what the software actually is, but it doesn't matter because the core product offering does what it was designed to do.
