Vantaggi
I met some amazing people while working there. The pressure to succeed motivated me to work harder than I thought possible.
Svantaggi
The company culture is dominated by cliques and egos. Those who fall on the wrong side of whichever group is running things that day quickly find themselves working longer hours, mostly unpaid on nights and weekends. The feeling is very.... 7th grade. College kids fresh out of school are enticed by the notion of a great starter job in a lovely area but in reality sixty-plus hour work weeks with little to no chance for advancement is the norm. The feeling of desperation and heightened anxiety is pervasive. Nearly all of my peers lived in quiet terror of suddenly being fired although they could rarely pinpoint where that feeling came from. All management roles are filled by family members or 'teachers pet' types who very clearly play favorites. Meetings are poorly organized and seem more designed to give those in charge an opportunity to bloviate and pat each other on the back rather than actually accomplish anything. This eats up valuable work time which is usually made up for on - wait for it - nights and weekends.
