The reason you can have a meaningful impact is because there are no experienced engineers to lead the development of the product. It's a failed experiment of "What if we threw very intelligent, but unqualified technologists at a shaky business model" I feel bad for the engineers, in that most, if not all the engineering talent is top tier. Like insanely smart, but every management decision works against using or developing that talent to its fullest potential. Most, if not all, every truly intelligent engineer has either found a niche in which they are allowed to do whatever they want without repercussions or has left the company.
