Vantaggi
Being able to go to the main office and enjoying my time with the people at Octopus Energy, also they have shares. I met some really nice people here too, and the only D&I that isn't impacted negatively here is your sexuality.
Svantaggi
I want to start this off saying that I expected nothing but the best working for a company that is a branch of THE octopus energy. But the experience at electric vehicles was not what I expected and if I cold give these guys a negative score I really would. 1. Don’t expect to be treated fairly or equally, unless you’re A. White male B. A person who sucks up to your boss and ready to be a “pick me” C. Ready to play corporate power games D. A functioning alcoholic Matter of the fact is that the culture is toxic, you’ll feel it when you enter, if you don’t, you’ll definitely see it over time. They will work you like a dog, and pay you dangerously low. To put into context I applied for other jobs after leaving, especially being new to London, and my starting salary with every other company was triple what they offered - 60k/63k and OTE. If you work here prepare to be underpaid. OEV is infact a glorified call center with the “we’re family, we have a pool table tripe” Career progression ..don’t expect it. The term HR exist to protect management is very true here also. What did I get… A manager who’s so worried about his job he instills the fear within his team members, a manager who makes multiple employees cry and micro manages the break I had between calls. Imagine being asked why I had a 2/3 minute break between 7 of my calls despite letting them know I have ADHD as if this isn’t unreasonable enough on its own. Also had a disorganized and quite frankly awful employee onboarding and training. Flaky and unachievable commission structure and overall sour place to be at the very least in my experience. I have never ever felt the need to leave a review on one of these things about a place, but if you’re serious about your career, mental health and a place that’s generally accepting of people who are different I would genuinely suggest you look elsewhere.
