Micro managing and lack of trust from the CEO. The CEO literally attended all of my meetings with both internal employees (that I was supposed to be managing) and external partners. During these meetings he made all the decisions for me. He dominated every single conversation, so it was difficult for me to object or make my own suggestions. Before I started in this role, the CEO knew I was joining the team soon as the team leader, but instead completed the entire year budget and signed all of the partnership contracts and left very little budget behind, just weeks before my start date. He did not complete an ROI analysis of the previous years' paid channels, but just signed everything to carry on as the exact same way Officite has for over a decade, including outdated channels like Direct Mail and Partnership Marketing. The only channels I could have some control over were non-paid, email marketing and organic traffic, but the CEO would still even attend those meetings and make poor decisions. Besides just the regular campaigns, the CEO will come up with random, outdated outbound marketing campaigns that no modern SaaS brand would consider. As the team leader I was expected to honor every campaign idea from the CEO and complete the campaign with unrealistic timelines. If I didn't complete the campaign in the time frame the CEO wanted, I was blamed for poor sales. Despite the fact that I didn’t have any control of the budget and very little control over non-paid channels. Beyond just the micromanaging from the CEO, the culture at Officite is very centered around the departments blaming one another for poor performance. But I guess that’s really a top down trickle down problem. The sales team especially despises the Marketing department. I've worked for 5 different SaaS brands, so the tension that sometimes exists between sales and marketing is nothing new to me. But the Marketing/Sales relationship at Officite, Online Chiro, and TherapySites is by far the worst I've ever experienced. The worst part of my entire experience working here was that I was promoted into the Associate Director role from another Marketing Manager role at Internet Brands for good performance. I expected as an internal hire with a good track record to be treated with respect or at least some form of human decency. I write this long review not just because it's cathartic, but to warn any marketer interviewing for a role at Officite (or any of its associated brands) to be extremely cautious. If you have another job offer for less money or a lower job title, please consider the other role. Or even if you haven’t found another job, keep looking. If you don’t care about data-driven performance marketing and just like to brown nose higher ups then this marketing team is for you.
