Svantaggi
Ogilvy is quickly going downhill with each year that passes. They have such a high turnover rate because of the way they treat their employees, such as giving beyond unrealistic workloads (it’s not uncommon for you to work 12-15 hour days, every day). They will preach about how important “work life balance” is to them, which is laughable because they won’t actually follow through with it. You literally cannot log off at 5pm at any time, because people will still be messaging you and sending emails into the night and except you to answer and still be working. Plus with the amount of work they give you, you have to work until 10pm/11pm at night (sometimes later) to be able to keep up with all of it, and even then you’ll fall behind because most people are doing the job of 3 roles. Then you have underqualified “Directors” who are really glorified lower management but get this title because Ogilvy likes to beef up their job titles in their postings to entice people to apply. You’ll get 3x the amount of work with 3x LESS the standard going rate for your role. They are terrible with pay and don’t even come close to the standard for any role at the company. No bonus, no raises, extremely long hours that take a toll on your mental health. The list goes on. Not to mention the CEO of the Toronto office who came on board a few years ago is terrible and only cares about winning awards and doesn’t care what it takes for his employees to get the job done, as long as he can gloat in company meetings and give a measly and disingenuous “thank you” for all the late hours people put in to make a project happen. Last but certainly not least, there is a toxic culture that is very evident with certain teams and individuals who like to bully others and use their “title” to their advantage. Avoid this place and move on to better agencies and companies that truly appreciate and value their employees by actually following through with what they preach.
