Toxic environment. CIO and surrounding senior level managers are unprofessional, abrasive and directionless. They fail to reward high achieving employees and pass over advancement opportunities by hiring from outside (just to have those new hires quickly leave). Attrition is terrible and unsung leaders have begun to flee. The ship is sinking.

Oldcastle APG is experiencing significant growth, but its operational infrastructure does not appear to be keeping pace with the increasing workload. The Accounts Payable department handles a high volume of invoices and emails without the support of a modern ERP system, resulting in extensive manual data entry. Employees are expected to process approximately 80–100 invoices daily while also managing multiple shared email inboxes that can generate hundreds of emails each day. Training is minimal, with new employees receiving only a brief onboarding period (2 days) before being expected to independently manage complex responsibilities. This can create a challenging learning environment and increase the likelihood of errors and employee frustration. Management within the AP department could benefit from stronger organizational practices, more consistent communication, with less aggression, showing respect towards others and a greater focus on employee development. Some employees may feel that concerns are not always addressed constructively, and there can be a perception of favoritism in decision-making. The work environment is demanding, with long hours often expected to meet workload requirements. While the company offers opportunities to gain experience in a fast-paced setting, improvements in systems, training, management practices, and workload distribution would likely enhance employee satisfaction and overall operational efficiency.
