Flexible scheduling, low commitment, minimal training/experience required, work while you are on campus, can be rewarding if you manage to collect a lot of emails (there was a performance incentive of $1 per email collected when I was there). Some people manage to collect a few hundred emails in a few hours, but you often have to be more aggressive to do so, and this increases your chances of getting caught (more on that below). I can see it as beneficial if you just need some extra cash in a single payout, but I wouldn't do it for longer than a few weeks.

The title is misleading - you aren't a manager at all, you're more of a promoter (the company knows they get more applicants with the title "manager" instead of "promoter"). On top of that, you're promoting a company that 99% of professors detest (copyright issues and monetizing/profiting from their work). Some "community managers" have gotten disciplined by their professors/universities for promoting in classes without their permission. In fact, this is an ongoing issue with this position, and the company knows it but sees community managers as expendable. The company can be pushy/aggressive in trying to get you to do things, they also nag you if you don't return the forms right away. Communication is confusing since there may be multiple people contacting you. This job is somewhat unsustainable - your pay is based largely off of the email addresses you collect, so each successive time you promote at a given class, the number of new emails you can get decreases. A lot of shady business tactics (notice how most other reviews were written around the same day?).

First of all, we just wanted to thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us and also for the extremely helpful suggestions on how we can make our Community Manager program more effective. We stand behind each and every one of our Community Managers as they are all ambassadors of the OneClass brand across their respective campuses. We work with them on a weekly basis to ensure that we provide them with any assistance or resources they require to succeed in their roles. With each community manager, our goal is to work with them to grow a community of OneClass users at their school and also educate other students about the idea of sharing knowledge and the exchange of study material. That being said, when we’re attempting to cultivate a new community at a school, physical promotions in different classes on campus is a vital marketing method to help raise awareness. We definitely agree with your comments regarding improvements in communication and we are taking all the necessary steps to rectify any errors or confusion. Since the Community Manager program is in its early stages, there are often imperfections in the process that we will be striving to reduce and eliminate altogether over the coming weeks. Regarding your comments about employments regulations and compensation, we keep in close contact with the CRA to ensure that we are abiding by their rules and guidelines. Since regulations may change from year to year, we make sure to stay up to date with all employment regulations set out by the CRA by reviewing them on a quarterly basis. Lastly, we just wanted to reiterate the primary mission of OneClass, which is to help students everywhere. Whether it’s helping them to achieve academic excellence or saving students money on textbooks, each and every member of the OneClass team is dedicated to educating and supporting all students.
